Global marketing

Peter Lang has a dedicated global marketing team which is supported by local marketing and sales teams. In addition, we work with sales agents, representatives and distributors around the world.

Direct mail, reviews and participation at conferences and book fairs have proved to be the most effective marketing tools for academic publications. We also support our marketing efforts with electronic media to reach out to our existing customers and a wider audience.

For each of your publications we define a target group. This ensures that the right people in your field get to hear about your book.

Listing in the relevant directories and databases

  • Publications are listed in international databases and/or book trade directories, e.g. in the Library of Congress, British Library, Electre, VLB (Directory of in-print books), H.W. Wilson Cumulative Book Index, and R.R. Bowker.
  • Publications are registered with the new publication service of the national libraries.

Advertising

  • New Publication Bulletins: These catalogues are published several times a year and distributed all over the world. They are classified according to subject area and tailored to the target audience concerned.
  • Special Focus Catalogues: On occasion we produce special catalogues for specific subjects.
  • Series brochures appear occasionally.
  • Publicity Flyers: We design a detailed promotional leaflet for each book, which is distributed to the target group.

Reviews

  • We send invitations to review and review copies to academic journals and other media channels.

Conferences / Book fairs

  • Our publishing group is represented at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Leipzig Book Fair and at other international book fairs and numerous specialist academic conferences.
